Virginia Beach Home Loans: The State of Plattsburgh.

The State of Plattsburgh.

The State of the City of Plattsburgh:

I've really come to fall in love with the real estate that I have come across in the Adirondacks. I live in Plattsburgh, NY near the tip of the Adirondacks. I am from the area originally, I moved away for a while to get some experience behind me. The only real draw-back to Plattsburgh is that the demographic is... Read More

This of course came as a shock to my colleagues and I as we are putting up near refi-boom level numbers. Still I guess I can see the evidence of it as more and more of my competitors shut their doors and call it a wrap. It just seems that as they leave we get more business so the decline has been less obvious to us. I do not want to be the first the let the worm out of the can...but we may just be in a declining market, even if only slightly. Of course its not all bad, it is another chance to revitalize and regrow!

Hi Christopher. This is Paula. I'm the owner of HomeRun Title and Dawn is my sister. I just had to leave you a comment. My family is from Plattsburgh. They are almost all still there. I actually just went and visited in July. That was my 2nd time ever going. Very different from Hollywood, FL.! Went to the Demolition Derby at the local fair. That was exciting! Plattsburgh might not be a place for everyone but I liked it. Even thinking about buying some property in the near future for hunting purposes. Didn't have much time though to check out the market.

Paula - Hello, yeah Plattsburgh is a nice community. Very good place to raise children. The market is "declining" but all that means is that less people are currently buying homes... Still I think that the market is healthy and will rebound quickly. If you are ever find yourself on your way to Plattsburgh let me know. Also if you would like to check out a few properties (some great hunting camps) check out

Christopher, my wife and I drove through the Adirondacks on our honeymoon on the way from D.C. to Montreal and Quebec City.  It's truly a beautiful area of the country.  On the way up, we stayed overnight in the Hudson Valley at Hyde Park and on returning we stopped for a night in Saratoga Springs.

Brian, the Adirondacks truly are beautiful. I know the areas that you mentioned above pretty well. I am from Plattsburgh but I got my start in this business at a company in Saratoga Springs and I lived there for a while. I am not a big fan of the cold (though winters here are gorgeous to look at) but I love this area so much that I am willing to deal with the cold a few months out of the year. Thanks for stopping by my blog, and if you ever think of purchasing a vacation home up here give me a ring so that I can give you a deal that you can brag about to everyone here on AR :).
